Password problems and the CCGA website Members Area.

If you are having problems accessing the Members Area, your List of Members entry,
or your Email Forum
account, and you are after a password reminder,
please, please! read this page first.
ALL OF IT!
It will help you understand how passwords work on this website,
and save you having problems in the future.

There are THREE password situations you need to know about:
Different passwords get used in different places. It is very simple!
....no, really! it is - "Trust me, I'm a doctor!" :-)

This is how it works:

Situation 1:
A
Common Username and Password - used to access the CCGA Members Area.

A username and password that we ALL use.
eg: Common username: watto - Common password: banana
('banana' is NOT the current Common password!)
The common username is ALWAYS: watto
The common password will change occasionally; usually every financial year.

Situation 2:
A 'personal' password:
You use it for updating your Contact Details in the List of Members.
You use this Personal password WITHIN the Members Area. Only YOU use it!
(When you join CCGA, this personal password is set to 'celebrant' by default)

Situation 3: Accessing your Email Forum account.
When you joined the CCGA, an Email Forum account was created for you and you will have received a 'Welcome' e-mail that contained a randomly chosen password.
You use that password to access your Email Forum account. more

To make things easier, you may change that random Email Forum password to match your personal password.
Automatic Email Forum password reminders are sent monthly - Check your old e-mail!
(Request Email Forum only password reminder below)

HINT: It is a good idea to change your Email Forum password to the same one as your personal password. Then the Automatic monthly Email Forum reminder will 'remind' you about BOTH password situations: 2 and 3.

HINT-2: Put a small sticker on your computer / desk / somewhere else memorable.
Write the CCGA passwords written on it.
(or tattoo them onto the forehead of your firstborn)

eg:

CCGA Common username = watto
CCGA Current common password = xxxxxx

           My personal password = xxxxxx

And, if different to your personal password:
           Email Forum password = xxxxxx

NB: The List of Members and the Email Forum are separate entities.
You CAN update personal information in BOTH of them,
BUT updating one DOES NOT automatically update the other!

TROUBLESHOOTING PASSWORDS:

If you are having problems with using passwords on the CCGA website:

1. Make sure 'caps-lock' is NOT on when entering usernames / passwords.

2. Many of you will have asked your browser to 'remember' the username and other passwords for you,
so you don't have to fill it in every time you visit the website. Sometimes the
password file needs to reset itself, and therefore suddenly it seems as if the Common username / password 'won't work'!
Just type them in again manually. (You may have to tell your browser to 'remember' them again)
Have YOU forgotten them? >

3. Are you using the correct password, AND in the right place? (See above)
Most password problems occur when members confuse the Common username / password,
the Email Forum password, or their personal password with each other.

Ie. * The Common username/ password will NOT work on your Email Forum account
or the List of Members.
* Your personal password will NOT access the Members Area.

OK - got all that? Now, if you need to.....
